What to do when a child is unable to complete the assessment within the 2-week assessment window? (e.g.: expiring or expired assessments)

Identifying an Expired Assessment

An assessment is considered expired when the 2-week assessment window has ended before all required tiles have been completed.

An expired assessment will typically display:

  • 0 days left
  • No Level displayed
  • An incomplete progress bar showing the number of completed tiles


Example:

Child record displays 0 days left and No Level, indicating the assessment window has expired and the assessment can no longer be completed.

Reset Requests Before an Assessment Expires

In some cases, educators may know that an assessment cannot be completed before the assessment window ends. Rather than waiting for the assessment to expire, they should contact Preschool Support as soon as possible.

Examples include:

  • Incorrect accessibility requirements were selected and the assessment has already commenced.
  • The wrong child was assessed.
  • The child will be absent for an extended period and will be unable to complete the assessment within the remaining time.
  • A significant technical issue has prevented continuation of the assessment.
  • The assessment was started in error.


What Services Should Do

Services cannot restart or reset an expired assessment themselves.
