Instructions for site leaders

Follow these steps to get ready for the pilot:

Checklist: Getting started

• Receive the link to register your details to the online account for your service.
• Use the ‘Invite staff’ option to add participating teachers and educators to your account.
• Run a ‘technical readiness test’ using the browser exam. Make sure you run the browser exam on the tablet device that teachers and educators will use during the pilot, in a location where the children will be completing the formative assessment. This step will help you make sure you have sufficient internet access and that your device or devices can support the technical requirements.
• If you see all green ticks after running the browser check, you can perform the pilot on that device at your service location.
• If you see any errors after running the browser check (red crosses or orange exclamation marks), contact the Preschool support team and include your service name and the subject heading of ‘Offline delivery’. We can assist you with alternative offline delivery options if required.
• Inform teachers and educators and parents and carers about the pilot using the provided information, for example, Plain Language Statements and opt-out form for parents and carers who do not consent to their child participating.
• Collect signed opt-out forms from any parents and carers who do not consent for their child to participate (either directly or from the child’s teacher or educator) and maintain these forms for your records. Make sure that these children are not added to the account.
• If parents and carers choose to withdraw consent after their child has been added to your account, contact the Preschool support team and we will securely remove any child data from the system.
• Each teacher or educator who has been added to your account will be emailed a form to confirm their preferred professional learning dates.
• Each teacher or educator who has been added to your account will be emailed their unique login details for accessing the POM Professional Learning Hub.
• If any teacher or educator cannot access their POM Professional Learning Hub account, contact the Preschool support team.
• If any teacher or educator can no longer attend the professional learning workshop they have registered for, contact the Preschool support team.
• If you are a site leader who will also be assessing children during the pilot (i.e. you also have a role as a teacher or educator), you will also need to register and attend a professional learning workshop. If you are a site leader only and will not assess children during the pilot, you are not required to attend a workshop.
• After all participating teachers and educators have completed the required professional learning workshops, you will gain access to add eligible children’s details into your POM National Tool account.
• Once children’s details have been entered, advise teachers and educators that they that they can begin assessing children.
• Contact the Preschool support team for help with any of these steps or throughout the pilot.
